The RíasKRU restaurant in Barcelona (c. Lleida, 7) "is not for sale for more than two million euros despite what a real estate agency says," states manager Borja Iglesias, who adds that he has asked the agency to remove the advertisement claiming it is for sale, and that, if they do not do so, they will take legal action. It is a circumstance that this year marks forty years since the Rías de Galicia was inaugurated by the Galician couple Cándido Iglesias and Purificación García. Later on, their three children took charge, but during covid they took the restaurant into insolvency proceedings, and it was bought by businessman Manuel Lao, the current owner. RíasKru is the fusion of Rías de Galicia, which is located on the ground floor, and Espai Kru, on the first floor, both specialized in fish and seafood, and both restaurants have marked an era of good gastronomy in the city of Barcelona.

Espai Kru, the modern seafood restaurant, as it is called by the current ownership.

Before the pandemic, the Iglesias brothers, together with partners Albert and Ferran Adrià, led the restaurants gathered under the name ElBarri, which were Tickets, Pakta, 41º, Bodega 1900, and Hoja Santa. All of them closed, and the group liquidated. In fact, Albert Adrià works alone with his restaurant Enigma, where he has achieved two Michelin stars.

Rías de Galicia was a success from the beginning: it brought the taste for seafood to Barcelona, in the style of Galicia. The example was immediately imitated, and many other seafood restaurants opened in the city. Borja Iglesias, who remained in the management of the restaurant despite the purchase by Manuel Lao, firmly maintains that the restaurant is not for sale, and regrets that the agency has spread it with the damage it may cause to suppliers and also to the restaurant's workers. In fact, when ARA MENGEM contacted him to inform him about the sale announcement, he replied that it was the first he had heard of it. He himself assured that he was calling the agency to have it removed, but after a while, the sale information was still active.

At RíasKRU, you can choose between three tasting menus, with prices ranging between 125 and 160 euros, and they also offer a lunch menu for 65 euros, in which you can choose veal and rice in addition to the fish and seafood proposals.
