BarcelonaCindy Crawford has broken her silence to say goodbye to her son, Presley Gerber, one month after his death, on September 20, at 27 years old. The model was found lifeless in a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, California. After weeks of mourning in private, the American model, her husband Rande Gerber, and their daughter Kaia Gerber have decided to pay tribute to him through social media with very emotional statements full of personal details.
The main post shared by Cindy Crawford shows a black and white image taken by photographer Sebastian Faena, in which Presley appears smiling next to angel wings. In the message signed by the entire family, the model reflects on her son's legacy: "We are deeply devastated by the loss of our beloved son and brother. We feel very lucky to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet and beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are very proud of how he showed himself to the world, with kindness and vulnerability." Rande Gerber has published the exact same message on his profile, and has left the comments open where friends like Reese Witherspoon, Orlando Bloom, Olivia Munn, and Eric Stonestreet have commented on the post with messages of support.
For her part, Kaia Gerber has accompanied her text with a video from their childhood in which they are seen dancing together and a photograph of the two of them looking at the sea from a beach. In a piece of writing full of feeling, Kaia has reflected on the difficulty of expressing her grief: "I cannot find the words, and perhaps the only good thing is that we did not need them. Words fail, subtract, summarize, and are always lacking in truth. How naive I was to believe that language could transcend pain!". She has also confessed the gravity of the loss: "I have read all the books and I have no answers. My words do not reach to describe the magnitude of your absence. Literally, I am on my knees. You know how much I loved being your sister. I always have been and I always will be."
Presley was admitted to a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica when the police and emergency services received a call on the morning of September 20th due to cardiac arrest and an overdose. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found the young man already lifeless and, despite ruling out any signs of foul play, initially determined that they "were investigating the death as a suspected overdose," a cause that remains under forensic investigation. Before his death, Presley had already spoken several times in videos he posted about his addictions and his mental health in initiatives such as Mental Health Mondays, in which he went as far as to admit his fear of medication and the frustration of having seen fifteen different psychiatrists. His death has left a great mark and numerous expressions of condolences around the world.
