BarcelonaLast-minute moves to try to close an agreement in extremis to the left of the PSOE. The Broad Front has proposed to Podemos a starting position on the list for Madrid for the November 29th general elections. As reported by La Vanguardia and confirmed in an interview with TVE by Emilio Delgado, number one on the candidacy for the Spanish capital, it has been put on the table that Irene Montero, the de facto candidate for the purple party, should occupy position 2 or 3 on the list, but under no circumstances the first one.

"I believe it is a generous offer that would guarantee they have representation in the Congress of Deputies," Delgado assessed. "There are a few hours left and it is at their disposal [...] We are in time," he added, although sources from the Broad Front assure that, despite the talks of the last few days, both sides have at no point "sat down to negotiate." The offer comes with only a few hours left before the deadline for presenting coalitions for the Spanish elections expires at midnight and after Podemos has repeatedly closed the door to integrating into the candidacy shared by Sumar, United Left, Más Madrid, and the Comuns.

Territorial alliances

With a unitary agreement at the state level practically ruled out, other territorial agreements have indeed been closed in the last few hours. In Aragon, the Chunta Aragonesista will finally join the Broad Front coalition, as Ara MÉS will also do in the Balearic Islands. "Both agreements demonstrate that it is possible to build broad candidacies, respectful of the plurality and identity of each territory," celebrated sources from the Broad Front, who have invited Podemos to join these pacts. Waiting to see how the 'purples' react, where there has indeed been a unitary agreement is in the Canary Islands: New Canary Islands-Canary Bloc, Sumar, Podemos, and United Left will go to the polls together under the brand of Unity of the Canarian People (UPC).

In the Valencian Community, on the other hand, negotiations have become complicated after the United Left of the Valencian Community rejected Compromís's proposal tonight, according to the ACN. More than 75% of the members of its National Political Council voted against a formula they consider dilutes the identity of the formation. In Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Navarre, Castile and León, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, Extremadura, and Andalusia, Podemos has offered the United Left the possibility of agreeing on candidacies outside the Broad Front, but Antonio Maíllo's group has rejected it so as not to "dismember" agreements.
