The summer that doesn't end: Monday the thermometer rises and Friday, even more

BarcelonaWith three days left until the (official) end of summer, we must continue to talk about temperatures more typical of July than these dates. Minimum temperatures have recorded the typical drop due to the shortening of daily daylight hours, with a cooler nighttime and early morning atmosphere in the interior and the Pyrenees. Maximum temperatures, on the other hand, continue to rise. For example, this Sunday they climbed again to 33.5 °C in Vinebre and up to 33 °C at the Riba-roja reservoir. And the models indicate a rise in temperature this Monday, to do so again at the end of the week.

On Wednesday we will enter the astronomical autumn, but everything seems to indicate that summer will continue to be present for a few more days.

Monday with a spike in heat

A calm day across the country, with reduced visibility inland due to the presence of mist or fog banks, for example, on the Vic plain. Elsewhere, there will be plenty of sun and only some low coastal clouds will appear, which will end up dissipating. A light westerly wind will prevail inland and a weak sea breeze on the coast, while on the northern slope of the Pyrenees a light northerly wind will blow, which will bring some clouds. As the morning progresses, a light tramontane wind will begin to blow, or with some moderate gusts north of Cap de Creus. There will be rough seas north of Cap de Begur and on the rest of the coast the sea will remain calm. In the Terres de l'Ebre, the mistral will blow lightly until midday.

The maximum temperatures will range between 28 °C and 30 °C on the coast and inland, between 30 °C and 33 °C. In the Lleida plain or in the interior of the Ebro they could reach 35 °C.

More heat during the first days of autumn

Throughout the whole week we will continue to talk about an anticyclone and this will mean that the sun will dominate without exceptions, with no prospect of rain. The only phenomenon to highlight will be the morning fog in plains and interior basins. No episode of rain or strong storms is expected in sight.

All this with temperatures that will rise at the beginning of the week, with more marked heat in the middle of the day. Between Monday and Tuesday, the maximums could climb up to 35 °C in the West. The nights will remain cool and the thermometers will remain similar for the rest of the days. On Friday, the thermometer will rise even more in the West, where they could reach up to 36 °C.
