Former deputy and former mayor of Sant Feliu de Guíxols arrested for masturbating in a hotel pool

BarcelonaThe local police of Santa Susanna (Maresme) arrested last Sunday the former socialist mayor of Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Baix Empordà) and former Junts deputy in Parliament, Pere Albó, for allegedly masturbating in the pool of a hotel in the Maresme town, as reported by Cadena SER and confirmed by ARA from police sources. According to the sources, the agents received the alert that Albó, lying on a sun lounger, began to masturbate in an area where there were dozens of people, including minors. SER explains that the witnesses present left the pool area to alert the hotel staff and that a young woman allegedly filed a complaint with the police because Albó had grabbed her by the arm.

The former politician was arrested for exhibitionism and handed over to the Mossos d'Esquadra. This Monday he was released with charges after appearing before the court of Arenys de Mar. The on-duty judge already rejected yesterday the petition for habeas corpus that Albó had made to denounce what he interpreted as an illegal detention, according to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia.

Pere Albó, 54 years old, was mayor of Sant Feliu de Guíxols for the PSC between 2007 and 2010; councilor of the municipality between 1999 and 2007; deputy mayor from 2011 to 2015 and, again, councilor in the opposition between 2015 and 2025, when he decided to step down from his municipal responsibilities. In 2015 he was one of the founders of MES-Moviment d'Esquerres in the city, a party with which he became a deputy in Parliament between 2021 and 2024 with Junts.

Suspended from membership

Precisely its current political party, MES, has made public a statement of "surprise and consternation" regarding the events and has "condemned them in the strongest possible terms". The party has opened an investigation file into the events and Albó has been provisionally suspended from membership.
