New title in sight for Barça and Fenger's goal-scoring debut
A great second half by Pere Romeu's team leaves the Liga F within reach with three goals to be replayed (6-0)
San Juan DespíBarça continues to advance towards winning the Liga F after thrashing Badalona (6-0) with goals from Salma Paralluelo from a penalty, Marta Torrejón, Sydney Schertenleib, Esmee Brugts, Mapi León, and Martine Fenger after a great start to the second half to seal the match. The Blaugranas could celebrate the title in a few weeks if they win on Espanyol's ground —time yet to be confirmed— or by default if Real Madrid does not secure three points against DUX Logroño.
A very hard-fought match by Pere Romeu's team, who showed patience to find spaces against a Badalona well-positioned in defense. Barça lacked precision in the final third in the first half, as already happened in the Copa del Rey tie. The Blaugranas tried to cause damage through crosses from the right wing by Carla Julià, but goalkeeper Carla Abdón —who debuted at the Johan Cruyff in the Copa del Rey semifinals due to the injury of the two starting goalkeepers— was very alert to intercept the passes.
In one of these actions by Julià, the 1-0 came. It was a penalty after a poor clearance by Itzi that hit her hands as Salma was looking for a shot at the far post. Romeu requested a VAR review, which ruled in his favor, and Paralluelo was responsible for scoring from the eleven-meter spot. Marc Ballester, the visiting coach, also claimed a penalty after a tussle between Mapi León and Banini, but the referee indicated nothing. Badalona attempted some long passes looking for Uribe, Julve, and Banini, but Aïcha was very attentive to cut out the plays.
Barça's madness decides the match
The azulgranas' inaccuracy in the final third of the field has disappeared in the second half. Barça has found the way to the goal and has had no brakes. Marta Torrejón took advantage of a divided ball after a free kick from Kika to make it 2-0 and, practically on the next play, Sydney scored the third with a great goal from the edge of the box after a great recovery by Aïcha, who was very active for 90 minutes.
Brugts, who scored in both Champions League matches against Real Madrid, has scored again after a cross from the left wing that went in to beat Abdón and make it 4-0. Barça wasn't satisfied and still wanted more goals. Mapi León joined the party with an Olympic goal and Martine Fenger put the icing on the cake with her debut goal for the first team of the Blaugrana. Nine clean sets for a Barça that is on its way to a poker.
