BarcelonaNews about the payment for Koldo García's defense. After it was verified that the publishing company of OK Diario paid him 242,000 euros in the framework of the mask case, the former advisor to minister José Luis Ábalos claims that this money was part of a broader agreement with the PP. As he explains himself in some audio recordings sent to SER from prison, where he is serving a 20-year sentence, the lawyer for the Popular Party, Alberto Duran, offered him one million euros in exchange for information against Pedro Sánchez and his inner circle. Money that was also to be paid through Eduardo Inda's media outlet.
"In a meeting I held with Mr. Duran, he proposed a sentence reduction that would mean not going to prison, taking my family out of the proceedings, paying for my defense, and the sum of one million euros," he states in one of the audio recordings published this morning by the station. In exchange, according to his version, the legal representative of the Popular Party asked him to leak information against prominent members of the Spanish government and, especially, against Sánchez, his wife, Begoña Gómez, and former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. "Even if it meant lying," García asserts to SER, and ensures that the agreed payments would be carried out "through Eduardo Inda," owner of OK Diario.
The statements from the former Transport advisor, denied by the PP and by his lawyer on the same station, come after it emerged, as stated in the invoices that García sent to the Supreme Court, that the publishing company of the radical right-wing digital newspaper paid him 242,000 euros for the defense of Koldo García.
