Barcelona48 hours after the tragic incident at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, which ended with the death of Jesús de Miguel, Jesús Owono has broken his silence. "These are the most difficult days of my life. I find it hard to find the words and it is very difficult for me to assimilate anything that has happened", states the Andorra goalkeeper in a statement distributed by the club itself through its social networks.

"I feel a giant pain for the loss of Jesús. I think about him, his family, and all the people who loved him. I know there will be many questions to address, I will face whatever comes with all due respect. But right now, honestly, I cannot think of anything other than Jesús and the suffering we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesús," concludes Owono, who was not present at this Wednesday's voluntary training session. Before starting the session, Andorra held a minute of silence. The club from the Principality also asks in the statement for "the utmost sensitivity and respect."

The goalkeeper struck the Madrid-born forward in the chest with his knee during one of the final actions of the Tenerife-Andorra match. As a result of this action, De Miguel suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and ended up dying the following day at the Hospital Universitari Nostra Senyora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island's capital.

The match is considered over

This Wednesday, the competition judge's resolution was also made known, deciding to consider the match finished with the score at 2-2, despite the fact that there were still two minutes of stoppage time left to play. Furthermore, the matches that Tenerife and Andorra were supposed to play this weekend, corresponding to the thirteenth round of the Second Division, have been postponed with no scheduled date. The Spanish Federation (RFEF) has also cancelled all matches it was organizing until Friday, including the rounds of the Copa del Rey and the Copa de la Reina.

In parallel, the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) has requested the suspension of all state competitions being played this weekend, a decision that is still pending resolution.
