Seventeen arrested for theft during the first night of La Mercè

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) and the Guardia Urbana (Urban Police) made 17 arrests for theft on the first night of La Mercè; a figure that the Councilor for Culture, Xavier Marcé, described as "normal" for a festival with typical crowds. In fact, he said that no arrests were made for "particularly serious" offenses.
