A fire is burning between Amer and Susqueda, in a difficult-to-access area.
There are three active fires that are currently burning at low intensity, according to the Fire Department.
BarcelonaAnother forest fire, this time in Catalonia. The Generalitat Fire Brigade reported that they are currently working on a forest fire that broke out between Amer and Susqueda, in a difficult-to-access area located above the Torrent de Palou.
The alert was received a few minutes after eight-thirty in the evening. 15 fire crews were dispatched to the scene, but they had difficulty reaching the point where the flames were due to the difficult terrain at that point.
As explained by the fire department in a message on the social network X, they are working with hand tools to extinguish an area of chestnut and pine trees, led by units from the special GRAF team. For now, there are three active fires burning at low intensity and with favorable environmental conditions due to the lack of wind intensity. The first assessments at eleven-fifteen indicate that the affected area is less than one hectare.
The mayor of Amer, Maria Rosa Vila, explained in a statement to Catalunya Ràdio that the time at which the fire broke out prevented the helicopters from taking off. Vila also explained that the affected area is currently unknown and noted that there was a fire in this same area just four years ago.
