Dr. Martens turns 65 (and celebrates with a luxury collector's release)
To improve the lives of workers, in 1960 the firm combined the quality of British footwear manufacturing with an innovative German sole to create a boot model that, over the years, left the factories to take root in subcultures around the world.

BarcelonaThis year marks 65 years since Dr. Martens combined British footwear tradition with a new sole from Germany characterized by a cushioning system. The union of these two traits resulted in footwear ideal for withstanding long days of hard work: they didn't break and were more comfortable for workers than their predecessors. The first launch with which Dr. Martens combined durability and comfort was the 1460 boot, which was quickly adopted by workers and, 65 years later, is part of the image of major urban subcultures, which turned it into a global aesthetic icon.
To celebrate this anniversary, Dr. Martens has presented a true collector's item: one of the most exclusive versions of the 1460 boot ever produced by the brand. It is the 1460 MIE Pascal Love Letter. With this model, they wanted to pay tribute to the long history of the brand's most famous silhouette, produced in the original Wollaston factory in Northamptonshire, England, where it all began. Only 1,460 pairs will be made, a reference to the boot's name, which commemorates the date it was first created: April 1, 1960.
The boot is made with Classic Calf, a leather premium From the CF Stead tannery in Leeds, which has been producing quality leathers since 1904 and has collaborated with Dr. Martens since the 1980s. Made using natural waxes and oils, the boots have a very distinctive patina that is expected to develop over time. The chosen shade is deep burgundy, a color that is absolutely on-trend at the moment, appearing in fashion and accessories, but also in home decor items. The tongue also features the creation date of the first pair, 1.4.60, a heel tab matching the leather, antiqued gold eyelets, and burgundy laces. As always with the brand, the boots are trimmed with the brand's distinctive yellow stitching and mounted on grooved soles. The price is also a collector's item: 550 euros.
