Colombia, the first country to declare the Amazon free of mining and hydrocarbons

The Colombian government of Gustavo Petro has used the UN climate summit in Brazil, COP30, to present an official commitment to banning large-scale mining and fuel extraction in the Amazon. It is the first of the eight countries with Amazon rainforest to do so.
