Some of the things we hope not to miss in the next seven days

I will repeat a visit to a truly special restaurant: La Morera, in La Morera de Montsant, a temple of Catalan cuisine and an ode to the tradition of the Priorat. Hazelnut soup with black pudding, tortilla with juice, fig tree crests, beef cheek stewed in red wine... If the menu is a true spectacle, the place is even more so, in the heart of the Montsant mountain range. And we will enjoy close, friendly, and excellent service. A place to always return to.

I will read The Oligarch's Son, the new non-fiction thriller by Patrick Radden Keefe. After his visit to Barcelona, a city he knows well from his residency at the CCCB in 2024, I will begin with this story that follows the life and death of Zac Brettler, an upper-middle-class teenager who posed as the son of an Eastern European billionaire. A portrait of a decadent London at the service of oligarchs with highly dubious influences.

I will go to the presentation of the new B1n0 album. The Ampurdan duo, formed by Emili Bosch and Malcus Codolà, stops at Sala Apolo with Gargot (Foehn Records), an album based on improvisation, searching, and imperfection as a method. Clara Peya, Mar Pujol, and Martí Sales participate, among others, and it maintains the experimental pulse of B1n0, which also never quite undoes the pop essence of its songs.

Notes on what we have seen, felt, tasted and, ultimately, experienced in the last seven days

I have purchased tickets for the exhibition that has just opened at CosmoCaixa dedicated to sharks, where this species is discussed from its origin, covering its 450 million years of existence on Earth through biology, diversity, and ecological importance. The most interesting part is the surprising data that helps to debunk many of the myths surrounding sharks. 

I have celebrated that there will be a new season of the series This Is Not Sweden in which Aina Clotet made us laugh –and feel– by dissecting motherhood with all its lights and shadows. The continuation changes its title –it will be This Is Not Finland– and it presents us with the difficulties of parenting for a separated couple, focusing on all types of families.

I had dinner at Beryti, next to Joanic square, a small, unpretentious Lebanese cuisine restaurant, with excellent service and a selection of delicious dishes to share. In addition, they organize workshops, concerts, and exhibitions.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about some of the buildings that are opening their doors this weekend for the Open House Barcelona. You will be able to visit, among others, the Torres Porta Fira, by the architect Toyo Ito; the courtyard of the Casa Gralla; the CCOO building on Via Laietana or the little houses on the beach of Garraf. This architecture festival is a unique opportunity to discover fascinating spaces that are normally closed to the public.
