BarcelonaThe atypical and historic heat that has accompanied us at the beginning of this month is numbered, with weather that will already start to change on Tuesday and a temperature that will begin its descent in some points. It will be on Wednesday when we will notice the change in weather, with intense rain, wind, rough seas, and a lower temperature everywhere, with an environment more typical of the meteorological autumn.
Tuesday: increase in clouds and first showers
Last day of exceptional heat, with a fairly stable mercury that could rise a little more in the Girona regions, with maximums that will reach 37 °C or 38 °C in some points and will exceed 34 °C in a good part of the interior. Placid morning, with sunshine dominating practically everywhere, although we will already have the first low clouds on the south coast. During the afternoon the clouds will increase progressively and we will have the first showers and thunderstorms in the northern half, locally intense. In fact, Meteocat has already activated a danger warning for rain intensity in the Solsonès, Berguedà and Ripollès areas.
Wednesday: storms and downpours
The arrival of a front and the entry of wind at both ends of the territory will characterize Wednesday's weather change, with precipitation that will affect a large part of the country and will be locally intense. Meteorological models concentrate the bulk of the downpours on the central coast and pre-coastal areas and in the center of the country, but the situation is still uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the wind will be intense at the ends, with tramontane and mistral winds, and that the temperature will drop notably everywhere. The mercury will drop between 7 °C and 13 °C, with many maximums between 22 °C and 26 °C, very far from the values of previous days.
In this regard, Meteocat has activated danger warnings for rainfall intensity (20 mm in half an hour) in a good part of the regions in the northern and eastern half of the country. The warning is at a red level in Baix Penedès, Alt Penedès, Garraf, Baix Llobregat, and Vallès Occidental, and at an orange level in the rest of the regions of Barcelona and in parts of Camp de Tarragona and the interior of Girona. There is also an active warning for rainfall intensity (>60 mm) in three hours on the central and southern coast and pre-coast, the Barcelona Pre-Pyrenees, Central Catalonia, and the eastern Pyrenees.
