BarcelonaThe weather will be full autumn this weekend and with a bit of everything depending on the area. Saturday will be a day with intervals of clouds and a risk of some local showers, especially in the Ebro and the Costa Brava, while the rain will be a bit more prominent in the Valencian Country and the Balearic Islands. Friday, more than 5 l/m² have already fallen in some points of the Ebro Delta. But the night of the 'Castanyada' will be calm in general and like those of a lifetime, with cold and a very autumnal feeling. Sunday, All Saints' Day, the sun will prevail and the mild weather will be accentuated momentarily at midday. But next week the maps are confirming an injection of cold air coming from central and eastern Europe that will bring us an atmosphere of advanced autumn and more instability.
Saturday: autumn in its purest state
The sky will be variable and changing overall due to the presence of intervals of low clouds, with many morning fogs. Only on the north face of the Pyrenees will the sun dominate without exception throughout the day. Throughout the day, some scattered showers will fall in the Terres de l'Ebre –where the sky will be more overcast– and on the Costa Brava. Also, some drizzles or some very weak and isolated showers are not ruled out in other areas, especially in the prelitoral. Very little overall.
Showers will be more present in the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands. In fact, between the Valencia area and the north of Alicante, the precipitation may be slightly more significant, as well as in the Pityusic Islands and the east of Mallorca. Light or moderate wind from between the northeast and the east along the entire coast. Lower temperatures, with an environment between cool and mild in the middle of the day, in full autumn. Many values of 16 to 22 °C are expected overall.
Chestnut Night
The weather on the night of the Castanyada is expected to be very calm, with an increasingly clear sky, with the exception of fog in the interior. In the evening, there will still be some showers in the Ebro area, and during the night also in the south of the Valencian Community or in the Balearic Islands. Very little.
Overall, nighttime temperatures will drop even further. It will be a cold night like the Castanyades of the past, perfect for enjoying panellets, chestnuts, and sweet potatoes by the fire. Minimum temperatures between 4 and 9 °C are expected in the pre-coastal and inland areas, and below 15 °C on the coast. In the Pyrenees, there may be some light frosts. The mistral and tramuntana winds will increase towards dawn in the Empordà and Ebro regions.
All Saints' Day to take advantage of
Instability will depart on Sunday, and sun and calm will generally dominate. It will be a day to take advantage of, and only remnants of some scattered and local showers will remain in the Balearic Islands. It will be colder early on, but in the middle of the day the environment will be milder or, locally, a bit warm. Many highs of 17 to 23 °C are expected, and locally up to 25 °C in the Tarragona regions. The Mistral and Tramontana winds will blow at both ends, especially in the Empordà.
All this will last a short time, since at the beginning of next week an irruption of colder air coming from central and eastern Europe will reach us. A cold air that will be channeled between the anticyclone located in central and northern Europe and a storm located in the east of the Mediterranean.
This cold entry will likely have a maritime path and will bring humidity that will make precipitation reappear, especially starting Tuesday, with snow at high and medium altitudes in the Pyrenees. All this will have to be followed with attention and confirmed, but what is clear is that we will have to use jackets in the coming days, and surely coats in some areas.
