Marc Márquez conquers San Marino and already dominates the MotoGP World Championship

If he succeeds, it would be his tenth. The Catalan rider has triumphed at the San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix at the Misano Adriatico circuit and has prevailed over his brother, Àlex Márquez (Ducati Desmosedici GP26), and Pedro Acosta (KTM RC 1). A perfect day that has allowed him to reach the lead of the MotoGP World Championship at the home of Marco Bezzecchi, third in the World Championship, who crashed in the first laps.

Marc Márquez, who had already won the sprint race on Saturday, is now the World Championship leader with 274 points, one more than Jorge Martín, who finished in fifth position. Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia RS-GP), who ended up without scoring, has 232 points.

It was a tense start to the race. Bezzecchi made a mistake at turn twelve of this first lap and ended up on the ground on the day he was trusting before his home crowd that he could take off in the World Championship. This led Marc Márquez to take the lead in the race, followed by Martín and Pedro Acosta. A context in which Marc Márquez rarely fails. He dominated so much that he controlled what was happening behind him at all times, right where his brother, Àlex Márquez, was also climbing up the standings until he reached the podium.

The Italian Francesco Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP26) also went down, who is having no luck this year. Márquez lost the first position only when Jorge Martín overtook him. With Martín at the front of the race everything could have changed, but Márquez is going through such a sweet moment that in a few minutes he was leading again. And he did not abandon the first position at any time. The management of the tires was decisive in the final result, but nothing put the Catalan's triumph at risk.

On the twentieth lap, with the podium spots very clear, Jorge Martín gave up another position to the attack of Fermín Aldeguer (Ducati Desmosedici GP25), which, mathematically, gave the lead to Marc Márquez. Márquez withstood the pressure from his own brother to achieve the victory, and Acosta consolidated the third position on the podium, ahead of Fermín Aldeguer, Jorge Martín, and Raúl Fernández; quite a milestone for Spanish motorcycling, which placed six riders in the top positions in Italy.

Márquez, who changed the rear tire at the last minute, has surely done the best race of the championship so far. A World Championship that he already dominates. And where he dreams of reaching his tenth world title.
