The school voucher: 60 euros per student and in digital format

The Government maintains, for another year, the 60-euro grant intended for primary, secondary, and basic grade students in public and subsidized centers in Catalonia. The benefited students are all those enrolled in an educational center in Catalonia supported by public funds, and the aid aims to alleviate the impact of the rising cost of living on families. The novelty this year is that the school voucher arrives in digital format.

The start of the school year implies an increase in family spending, and the measure aims, for another year, to lighten it. This year, the school voucher reaches its fourth edition, and the Government maintains the investment of a total of 50 million euros. In its decision, the Government of Catalonia has taken into account the current context of geopolitical and economic instability and its possible impact on prices. Last year, the school voucher reached more than 700,000 students.

The 60-euro aid is divided into two 30-euro vouchers, and the economic amount must be used for the acquisition of school supplies, such as writing elements, stationery, textbooks, children's and youth literature, dictionaries, small musical instruments, backpacks, pencil cases, educational games, calculators, headphones, keyboards, and mice. The aid can also be donated to the educational center.

Digital format

For the first time, and as the main novelty of the call, the voucher arrives in digital format with the aim of promoting the ecological sustainability of the project.

The vouchers can be redeemed at commercial establishments adhering to the campaign, which can be consulted on the Val Escolar website. Families who wish to do so can also assign one or both vouchers to the educational center so that it can make a joint purchase of school supplies. The assignment can be made until September 18.

If the purchase amount exceeds 60 euros, the family will have to pay the difference. On the other hand, if it is lower, the remaining amount of the voucher will not be refunded. In case of assignment, the educational centers will also have to acquire the material from the establishments adhering to the campaign.

How to access it

Families received the information by email last June with the PIN code that allows them to download the vouchers from the website valescolar.cat. In case of not having received it, the vouchers can also be obtained from the same site without the need to have the email, using the PIN recovery process. To access the school voucher, you just need to enter the website and follow the steps.

The aid is given in two vouchers of 30 euros each and they can be used together or separately. Under no circumstances should bank details be given to obtain it, and if anyone asks for them, you should be suspicious and call 012.

The vouchers can be redeemed at an affiliated store until November 30. They must be activated through the same website before making any purchase. You can also search for the establishments where you can buy.
