BarcelonaEighteen of the families affected by the sinkhole caused by the works on line 9 of the metro in the Putxet neighborhood of Barcelona will not be able to return to their homes until the end of December or the beginning of January 2027. The rest of the evacuated neighbors, about fifteen, will be able to do so in mid-October. In a press briefing, the director general of Mobility Infrastructure of the Generalitat, Ramon Ramírez, confirmed this Friday that only the return to one of the four buildings has been authorized.

The Government attributes the deadlines to the ground consolidation work and the need to remove the tunnel boring machine from under the buildings. The machine remains stopped and its startup will also delay the completion of the L9 tunnel by months. There are also eight affected businesses, seven of which will also have to wait until the beginning of next year.
