Barcelona"Let them hear it loud and clear: I love you". This is how the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, addressed his wife during a rally in Fuenlabrada following the federal committee meeting that approved the PSOE's candidate lists for November 29th. In an event charged with high emotion, Sánchez began his speech by referring to Begoña Gómez, his wife, who is facing trial and was seated in the front row. "They have tried to break us in every way and have achieved just the opposite. Today we are more united and stronger than ever. Let them hear it loud and clear: I love you," he declared, while also thanking her for being his wife and the mother of his daughters. Then Gómez went up to the stage, and they hugged and kissed before the audience's ovation. Later, he made a post saying that he loves her with the video of the scene.

Sánchez has started the pre-campaign by appealing for the mobilization of progressives to stop the "reactionary wave". "They are here, they are in Spain, they are in Europe, they are in the United States, and we must stop them," he said while images of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Javier Milei appeared on the screens, who were jeered by the more than three thousand attendees filling the Fuenlabrada venue where the event was held. "We must mobilize, we must vote, we must win, and we must govern after November 29th," said Sánchez, just after the federal committee that ratified the candidacies for Congress and the Senate and proclaimed him candidate by unanimity.

At a rally to breathe energy into his base to reverse polls that place them far from a majority, except for those of the CIS, Sánchez gave a speech with a social focus and warned of the PP's "cuts disguised as sacrifices." "They are the same old cuts," warned Sánchez, before lashing out at the opposition. "If they like chainsaws, they can go to the sawmill, but pensions are not to be touched," declared Sánchez, who put on a red t-shirt with the slogan "The strength of the people." Furthermore, he warned Feijóo and the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, that pensions "are not a gift check" but a social conquest, and he asked for "respect" for the elderly.

The ratification of the lists for Congress and the Senate has coincided with the adjustments they were forced to make to the executive branch. After the PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, resigned this Friday due to the scandal that has been generated in recent days by her partner's real estate dealings, the socialists are already rebuilding their leadership. Mínguez's replacement will be the Valencian Rebeca Torró, who already held a relevant position within the party as secretary of organization and will now combine it with that of socialist spokesperson. The change comes at a delicate moment, in the middle of the electoral pre-campaign.

The decision was made by the PSOE federal executive committee after meeting this Saturday to ratify the electoral lists, in which Pedro Sánchez was proclaimed by unanimity as the candidate for the presidency of the Spanish government. In the same meeting, the socialists designated the president of the PSOE, Cristina Narbona, as the new secretary of studies and programs, and the hitherto deputy Javier Alfonso Cerdón as the new secretary general of the parliamentary group.

Torró will replace Mínguez after having already replaced Santos Cerdán in the PSOE's organization secretariat, one of the positions with the most organic power within the party. Torró (Ontinyent, 1981) began her political career in the Valencian Country, where she was Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works, and Mobility of the Generalitat. Her leap to Madrid was as Secretary of State for Industry, where she landed after resigning as socialist spokesperson in the Valencian Courts, a position in which she only spent five months.

At the same time, the PSC has chosen the new head of the list for Lleida, who will be Cristina Morón, the current deputy mayor of the Paeria and provincial deputy. Morón, who will maintain both positions while assuming the candidacy for Congress, has denounced the "extreme pressure" that the former PSOE spokesperson has suffered and has questioned the type of politics she has received, which she has described as "petty" and linked to "verbal aggression" and "humiliation". The mayor and first secretary of the PSC in Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, has thanked Mínguez for the work done and has stated that time will place her "in the place that corresponds to her".

Joint list for the Senate

The role of Torró as spokesperson will be important above all during the electoral period, in an election that has an increasingly defined scenario. Precisely this Friday night, the PSOE, IU, Sumar, Compromís, Més Madrid, the Chunta Aragonesista and Batzarre have agreed to present unitary lists for the Senate. Added to this is the agreement between the socialists and Més, Esquerra Unida and Moviment Sumar in the four Balearic Islands and that of all the progressive forces in La Gomera.

Under the name Senate of Progress, the coalition forces (PSOE and Broad Front) explain that the movement has the objective of preventing progressive votes from being lost in the Spanish upper house due to being divided. In a statement released this Friday night, they state that the agreement "is born from civil society" and advocate for a "useful" Senate, which "brings the territories closer together instead of confronting them" and which dedicates time to "improving laws and not to persecuting the political adversary".
