The Spanish government approves a reform to protect the Attorney General and set his term at five years.

The Council of Ministers will approve a reform today to separate the Attorney General's term from the legislature, which will be extended to five years. The objective is to strengthen his "independence," in response to the recommendations of the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
