BarcelonaThe proposal by Judit Vinyes, spokesperson for Berga Grup Independent (BeGI), for the party to join Aliança Catalana has fractured the group. The other councilor, Lluís Minoves, has become an independent councilor, and fifteen of the twenty members of the list have expressed their opposition to "any integration with other parties" and reaffirmed "the independent, cross-party, and strictly local character of this party," which entered the City Council in 2023 with two representatives.

Vinyes' decision to enroll in Aliança Catalana This has also taken its toll on the core leadership of the far-right party in the capital of Berguedà. The organization secretary, Oriol Gès, has reportedly given his approval for Vinyes to head the Aliança candidacy in the upcoming municipal elections. This nomination clashes with the plans of the party's founders in the region, who favor Anna de Haro as their mayoral candidate and who point out that Vinyes already offered to be a Junts candidate in the previous elections. In this scenario, the members who promoted Aliança Catalana in Berga, according to information obtained by ARA, are considering leaving the party at the end of this month if the procedure by which the party's lead candidate for the 2027 municipal elections was proposed is not reviewed. According to sources familiar with the proposal, it came from "external sources and not through the organization's usual internal channels," which has generated concern among a significant portion of the local membership. The same sources admit that in recent months there have been "contacts" between members of the party leadership and individuals linked to BeGi, with the aim of exploring potential new members. Vinyes' husband, Xavi López, is one of the members of the Aliança Catalana executive committee in the Bages-Berguedà region, and both attended the Aliança dinner for the central region held last week in Manresa. These conversations, they allege, resulted in a "proposal for the direct appointment of the lead candidate, without any record of any formal consultation or participation process with the local membership." These same sources maintain that this operation was initially presented as "an initiative aimed at strengthening the political project in Berga, something that ultimately failed to materialize as initially proposed" because Vinyes' proposal to sign an agreement between BeGi and Aliança was rejected by the majority. Given this setback, they believe it is illegitimate for the independent spokesperson to lead the Aliança list in the upcoming elections. However, the members express "an open attitude towards the incorporation of qualified individuals committed to the party's political project," but argue that any configuration of the municipal candidacy must have "broad consensus among the local membership to guarantee internal cohesion and the best electoral prospects." Thus, they call for "reflection" from the party's governing bodies and emphasize that "the growth of a political project must be based on the legitimacy of internal processes, transparency in decision-making, and a connection to the local area as essential elements" to preserve "the trust of the membership and the public." In light of the upheaval that has occurred, the party leadership, according to these same sources, is considering calling an informational meeting for members and supporters, but the date and location are still pending confirmation, something ARA has been unable to confirm because it has not received a response from the top brass. In any case, the core group behind the movement believes the decision has been made and there is no turning back, so they plan to formally resign at this very meeting if the situation is not resolved.
