The 'Gourmet Billboard': discover what's new to eat in the country
It is impossible to keep up with the pace of new culinary proposals, so we try to put a little order into it. New menus, new restaurants, new menus and new shops that help us enjoy good food more, whether we sit in front of the stove or when we go out to eat. In this section, which we have named Delicious billboardWe regularly inform you of all the news that is brewing in our house. It couldn't be better said!
His name is Piolet
Those who already know the Diamant restaurant, on Meritxell Avenue in Andorra la Vella, already know that Nandu Jubany's cooking is undeniably good. Now he has just opened a second establishment in the Pyrenees country, and it is located halfway up the Grau Roig slopes. Those who ski will soon find it, going down the slopes, because the Piolet sign is clear and because at the door they are welcomed by three bottles of champagne that the chef has chilled. For those who go on foot, it is a small adventure, because they will have to walk from the foot of the slope until they reach it in ten minutes maximum, just while they climb slightly up the mountain. The fun thing is that everyone knows where the Piolet is, because in just a few days the chef has managed to make his cuisine popular. On the menu you will find dishes to share such as croquettes, of course; Russian salad; grilled Mallorcan sobrasada (don't miss it!), or patatas bravas. You can also order tomato bread with Iberian ham. For second courses, a mixed bowl, which is always a good idea on snowy days, like the one you'll see through the windows. Or cannelloni or pasta dishes. But at Piolet you can also try the famous pizzas from the Osona chef, such as those with six cheeses: mozzarella, conté, blue, brick, payoyo and parmesan. Leave time and space for dessert, because you'll find the black wafer with cheese ice cream filled with either Nutella or pistachio. And also a chocolate sin with panettone. While you enjoy, the Grau Roig ski slope awaits you so you can walk on it again, Chinese-Xano walking or skiing.
Enrique Tomàs reinvents the bikini
The Iberian Grukini is the new dish that Enrique Tomás establishments have just added to their menus. It is made of sliced bread with Le Gruyère AOP cheese and Iberian ham shavings. The sandwich costs 7.95 euros (two more if you eat it at airports), and it is a clear commitment by the two brands to unite both products and join the great bikini boom that is taking place in our country. The quantity of Iberian ham shavings and the slices of cheese that has won the title of best cheese in the world are generous, and you will recognise the sandwich immediately because, in the few days that they have been making it, it has become one of the star dishes of Enrique Tomás establishments.
The new Japanese restaurant on Comas i Solà street
Those who know Monster Sushi restaurants should know that they have just opened a new establishment. It is located in Sarrià, on Comas i Solà street, and occupies a space of two floors, with private rooms and an oriental atmosphere. On the table you will find the perfection of dishes that we are used to: uramakis, nigiris, makis. One of the recommendations for those who go for the first time is to opt for the Monster Tops, where you will find a selection of the best dishes of the restaurant, such as the salmon tataki. Make room for dessert, because, in addition to the strawberry dishes, you will also find an unforgettable carrot cake.
Fricandó, in a croquette
The wineries are experiencing one of their best moments, as a reserve of traditional cuisine, with vermouths and dishes at a good price. And the Garum Winery, located opposite the Sant Gervasi Market, is joining in. You will never have eaten a fricandó croquette as good as the one they prepare: in each bite you will find whole pieces of the dish that represents the pinnacle of Catalan cuisine, with the crunchy coating of the croquette. To continue, you will find dishes such as pickled tuna with mushrooms, cod with sanfaina and Russian salad. There is no shortage of patatas bravas, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And all of this washed down with a good selection of wines, especially natural ones. The wines by the glass are Catalan. You will have a good time at Garum.
Pasta dishes as if you were in Italy
He Murivecchi celebrates being in Barcelona for twenty years, specifically on Calle de la Princesa, in the Born district. And to celebrate, they propose a trip to the Italy of pasta and pizzas from the tables of their restaurant. One of the most attractive tips is to taste the pasta dishes that are brought to the table inside the wheels of cheese, where the pasta is soaked with more flavour. The pizzas and focaccias with mortadella and coppa, two emblematic Italian sausages, are also a suggestion for starters or to share. And, for dessert, of course, you can't miss ordering the tiramisu, which at Murivecchi is one of the great attractions.
