The value of appraised homes in Spain also exceeds the bubble record: 2,153 euros per square meter
In Catalonia, the price of appraised apartments already surpassed the 2008 record last quarter.
BarcelonaThe average price of homes on the open market has been surpassing the peaks recorded 17 years ago during the housing bubble over the past year. First, it was the price of new apartments, then the price of all homes on the open market combined—both new builds and resale properties—and finally, the price of resale apartments—which have exceeded bubble levels throughout Spain, but not yet in Catalonia. Now, another indicator has taken its turn: the appraised value. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda's estimate of the price per square meter of housing reached €2,153 in the third quarter of this year, surpassing for the first time the €2,101 per square meter recorded in the first quarter of 2008. However, in Catalonia, this record was already broken in the second quarter of this year, when the price reached €2,499 per square meter, €9 higher than the €2,490 recorded in the second quarter of 2008.
