BarcelonaThe Guild of Booksellers of Catalonia confirmed this Wednesday, two weeks after Sant Jordi, the record figures that were advanced at the end of the celebration: 26.7 million euros were invoiced, a figure that represents a slight increase compared to the 26.1 million in 2025. For the celebration, 2 million copies were sold, corresponding to 71,000 different titles.

The Guild has also made public the definitive rankings of the best-selling books, which represent 7% of the total, with some changes compared to the trend lists announced during the celebration, which were limited to the first five titles in each category. The top spots in the four lists are for Regina Rodríguez Sirvent, Òscar Andreu, Eduardo Mendoza, and James Clear, who moves up compared to the figures from the celebration.

The most significant changes in Catalan fiction are that Albert Sánchez Piñol enters at number 3 with Després del naufragi and Agnès Marquès also moves up to 5th place with the Ramon Llull prize, La segona vida de Ginebra Vern. Following them are the Sant Jordi prize by Carles Rebassa and the Santa Eulàlia prize by Roger Bastida. Regina Rodríguez Sirvent enters the list twice: the book that was the surprise of the 2023 ranking, Les calces al sol, is still in 8th place.

In Spanish, the Nadal prize winner David Uclés' La ciudad de las luces muertas

In Spanish, the Nadal Prize by David Uclés rises to number 2, Why was the definitive list released two weeks after the celebration? It was the same last year. According to the Guild, since Sant Jordi fell on a Thursday, the bulk of sales from stalls (which represent 40% of sales) were not entered into the LibriRed system until the following week, so they had to be separated from the usual bookstore sales of that week, which also had a mid-week holiday. The lists are compiled using LibriRed and GFK estimates for stores that are not part of it.
