Weekend with heat and mugginess of full dog days
Temperatures will continue above average, but without extremes
BarcelonaThis Friday, temperatures once again exceeded 38°C or 39°C in the northeast and south interior of the country, as well as in the Pla de Bages. And this intense heat and stuffiness of the last few hours will continue throughout the weekend. The atmosphere will be one of full heatwave, and the temperature will still be between three and five degrees above the climatic average. Therefore, it will be necessary to keep sweating hard, although without reaching great extremes. Nights will remain sleepless, especially on the coast, pre-coast, south, and west, with a heavy feeling near the sea due to the high humidity. All this with absolute calm, general sunshine, and few nuances, and there will still be African dust in suspension.
Saturday: midsummer day
The first day of the weekend will be one to take advantage of. Radiant sun will dominate everywhere and there will only be some morning mist or low clouds on the coast, due to high humidity. There will also be some traces of thin clouds and suspended dust. In the afternoon, clouds will grow in the Pyrenees which, at most, will leave an isolated drop or shower, especially in the eastern sector.
All this with temperatures that will undergo few changes, or will drop slightly in inland areas. Last night and early morning was again tropical in many places, and even torrid in some coastal spots, in the south, and on the coast and pre-coastal areas of Girona, here due to the re-heated tramuntana wind. Meteocat maintains alerts for nocturnal heat in several counties also for the night between Saturday and Sunday.
Along the coast and pre-coast, the sultriness will remain intense, both day and night, and a heavy atmosphere will be noticeable. The heat will be intense throughout the day overall, with many highs from 32 °C to 37 °C, although they will be higher again in the west, in the southern interior, and in some other corners of the interior. On the other hand, they will remain lower by the sea.
Sunday: few changes
Temperatures will be similar overall, although maximums will rise slightly in the south. The night will again be tropical or torrid in several regions, and during the day many values reached on Saturday will be repeated. Despite everything, it will be easier to reach 39 °C or 40 °C in Ponent and the Ebro valley. All this with absolute calm and only some afternoon showers in the Pyrenees.
Next week will be very warm again, but thermometers will slowly start to drop. The maps indicate that between the end of next week and the beginning of the following one, temperatures could normalize, with much more bearable heat. For now, no significant change in weather is in sight.
