Attention with the temperatures in the coming days: summer heat in sight
Mercury will go climbing positions with a firm step and ever more calm
BarcelonaWe have started the week with instability and temperatures still well under control. Showers and storms have fallen again in many regions since the morning and throughout Monday in a very irregular way, especially in parts of the coast and pre-coast, northeastern regions and in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. In some cases, genuine downpours accompanied by strong winds and hail have fallen, leaving very significant amounts in a very localized way. Highlights include the exceptional 99 l/m² that fell in Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Baix Empordà), more than 70 in Torrelavit (Alt Penedès), 63 in Llagostera (Gironès), 52 in Castell d’Aro (Baix Empordà), 50 in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles (Alt Penedès) and 34 at the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona.
Turbulent weather that will decrease in the coming days, although this Tuesday some afternoon showers will still be repeated, more concentrated in the Pyrenees and northeast. The anticyclone will settle in and calm will gain ground. But the news this week will be the clear and constant rise in thermometers. We will reach mid and late week with a summery atmosphere and between 5 and 10 degrees above average in most regions. 30 °C will be reached inland, and even the first 35 °C of the year in Ponent and in the south.
Tuesday: temperatures up
Instability will decrease this Tuesday, but it will not disappear completely yet. Afternoon cloudiness will return, bringing new irregular showers in parts of the Pyrenees and the northeast, with some locally intense thunderstorms. Meteocat maintains the alert for heavy rain and local accumulations of more than 20 l/m² in just half an hour in some counties of these areas.
However, showers are no longer expected in more regions, with sun and calm dominating in most of the country. Some bands of high and thin clouds will also cross. Temperatures will begin to rise significantly, both day and night, with a warmer atmosphere in the middle of the day. In fact, 30°C could already be reached between Ponent and the interior of the Ebro, while most of the maximums will range between 22 and 27°C in most of the country.
Very warm weather in the coming days
The thermometers will rise eagerly day after day. The strong solar radiation of this time of year and the anticyclone will guarantee this warm atmosphere, which will peak in the middle and end of the week. It will be then when 30 °C will be reached in many parts of the interior and the possible first 35 °C of the year in Ponent and the Ebro interior.
These will be values clearly higher than usual in mid and late May. With an atmosphere more typical of summer than late spring. In short, we will go from one extreme to the other in a few days. And all this with great calm and sun everywhere, with no new rain in the medium term.
