AP-7 cut in Penedès due to the burning of two trucks
The Firefighters send 12 trucks to the accident site, which has not produced injured
BarcelonaThe burning of two trucks on the AP-7 has forced the closure of this road in both directions of travel, near the Penedès town of Santa Margarida i els Monjos. Large flames and thick black smoke are visible from various points in the region, but according to the town council, neither of the two vehicles involved is carrying hazardous material. The accident occurred next to the company Gedia, which supplies vehicle parts, and there are no reported injuries.
However, Civil Protection has alerted the Special Plan for Emergencies due to Accidents in the Transport of Dangerous Goods. The Firefighters of Catalonia have mobilized a dozen units that are working to extinguish the flames in order to restore traffic on this rapid route. Following the incident, the emergency number 112 has received about sixty calls alerting to the fire.
