Tom Selleck, the most famous mustache on television

BarcelonaTom Selleck is part of the television landscape for many people. For most viewers, he will always be detective Magnum, the most attractive and famous television mustache of the 80s. The career of this actor, born in Detroit, and who for a time was a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association, is not limited to the popular series about the Hawaii investigator. For another generation, that of the 90s and early 2000s, he is Richard, the ophthalmologist with whom Monica from Friends had a love story that was falling apart due to the different life aspirations of the two involved. Selleck's career is also explained by the roles he didn't get: Steven Spielberg chose him to be Indiana Jones, but the contract to play Magnum prevented him from starring in a saga that, perhaps, would have made him even more famous worldwide.

At 81 years old, Selleck remained active until practically two years ago, when CBS canceled the long-running series Blue Bloods, of which he was the main star. The actor was not at all pleased with the news of the series' end and admitted that he felt "frustrated" because he didn't understand why they decided to end a production that was working. His anger was understandable: he had been at the head of this drama about a family of New York police officers for 14 seasons.

Since Blue Bloods ended, Selleck has been living a relatively retired life and, as seen in some images captured last year by paparazzi in Los Angeles, has replaced his characteristic mustache with a full white beard.
