Two climbers rescued in critical condition in Montserrat
Stones have fallen on them while they were climbing a route
BarcelonaTwo 30-year-old climbers are in critical condition after being hit by falling rocks while climbing a route in the Columpi sector, on the mountain of Montserrat. The Firefighters received the alert at 4:30 PM from a third person who found a man and a woman unconscious near the route, which is located near the Can Jorba car park.
The woman was the first to be evacuated with serious injuries and was transferred to Bellvitge Hospital. The man received first aid on the spot because he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest which was successfully revived and was later transferred to Vall d'Hebron by helicopter.
The Firefighters activated two air resources and four ground crews, and the Medical Emergency System activated two rescue helicopters.
