The girl died three weeks ago, hours after being seen at a private dentist where she was sedated to relax while having some baby teeth extracted and fillings done. A few days later it was learned that The clinic was not authorized to administer sedation in general.The Valencian Ministry of Health specified that the dental clinic's authorization was "as a dental clinic with dentistry and stomatology activity" and that it could administer local anesthetics, but not intravenous sedation, which is what they did with the girl who ultimately died after being admitted. A second 4-year-old girl who was also treated that day at the dental clinic had to be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital Clínic of Valencia due to an episode of fever, vomiting, and drowsiness. The little girl remained hospitalized until that same Tuesday, when she was discharged 12 days later.
