The National Police arrested the anesthesiologist and owner of the private dental clinic in Alzira on Wednesday morning. The girl died three weeks ago, hours after being treated at a private dentist's office where she was sedated to relax while having some baby teeth extracted and fillings done. A few days later it was learned that The clinic was not authorized to administer sedation in general.The Valencian Ministry of Health specified that the dental clinic's authorization was "as a dental clinic with dentistry and stomatology activity" and that it could administer local anesthetics but not perform sedations with intravenous drugs, which is what they did with the girl, who ended up dying after being admitted. Another four-year-old girl who was also treated that day at the dental clinic had to be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital Clínic of Valencia due to an episode of fever, vomiting, and drowsiness. The girl was hospitalized until this Tuesday, when she was discharged twelve days after admission. The events are being investigated by the Court of Instruction number 5 of Alzira, which has opened preliminary proceedings to investigate both the death of the six-year-old girl and the injuries suffered by the other minor.
