ValenciaFirefighters from the Valencia Provincial Consortium had to suspend their work stoppage to help extinguish the Teresa de Cofrentes fire in the Cofrentes-Ayora Valley region. The strike consisted of strictly adhering to their work schedule without overtime.

The fire, which broke out this Wednesday, is at Level 2 according to the Special Plan for Forest Fire Risk in Valencia (PEIF), with the mobilization of between 170 and 189 UME personnel. In addition, two hamlets near the town had to be temporarily evacuated due to their difficult access.

Marcel Montero, the general secretary of the UGT union branch at the provincial consortium, confirmed that if an emergency situation arose during the strike period, they would continue to work until the problem was resolved.

The fire is currently concentrated in two hot spots in the southwest area after a night in which relative humidity rose to 80% and a shift in winds helped to initially suppress the blaze. However, a rise in temperatures is expected during the day, which could reduce relative humidity.
