The Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, where the hantavirus outbreak has been detected and which carries 144 passengers on board, has already covered almost half of its journey from Cape Verde to Tenerife, where it expects to arrive between Saturday night and Sunday morning. It is now west of Nouadhibou (Mauritania). According to the position provided by its AIS localization system, the GPS identifier that all ships over 300 tons (and all passenger ships, without distinction) are obliged to carry, the MV Hondius has sailed some 427 nautical miles (790 km) since leaving Praia on Wednesday afternoon.
