Those under 55 who have had covid and are not at risk will not receive the vaccine until six months after infection. This has been announced by the deputy director general of Health Promotion, Carmen Cabezas, who has pointed out that according to different studies people who have been infected with the disease are protected from the virus for up to eight months and, therefore, have a lower risk of infection. "The priority is to vaccinate those who are not protected as vaccines arrive," remarked Cabezas.

On the other hand, Cabezas has also pointed out in the press conference this morning that the Health Department, from next week, should begin to vaccinate dependent over-80s who do not live in nursing homes. This is to happen in their own homes, although Cabezas warned that the logistics of vaccinating at home is complicated.
