Catalans raising Extremadura

In Extremadura you can still see flocks of black merino, increasingly less common, since the market prefers white wool because it is easier to dye. Furthermore, the merino also finds it harder to fatten up, which is why farmers prefer other more productive breeds. On the left, a specimen of Catalan donkey near Sant Feliu de Cartellà. It is also one of the animals that is in danger of extinction, since only about 650 remain. In the middle, a farmer from the Extremaduran town of Garbayuela in the middle of his work. The lack of generational replacement is one of the problems for maintaining native livestock. On the right, specimens of bison that have been reintroduced in San Cebrián de Mudá, in Palencia.
