BarcelonaThere are only a few hours left before the Central Electoral Board makes public the provisional candidacies that will be presented to Congress in the general elections of November 29th. With the deadline for submitting candidacies now closed, the nine coalitions already announced, and waiting for the parties to make their complete lists public, the electoral map has been taking shape in these last few days.

ARA collects in two interactive maps the candidacies and coalitions of the left and the right that are running for Congress, which will be definitively validated on November 3rd in the BOE. Both graphics include the parties and coalitions with current institutional representation, as well as those that have had institutional representation in previous elections. You will not see, therefore, Falange, Pacma, and Alhora, even though their ballots will also be at the polling stations. Barcelona, one of the strongholds of the left, will be where the most ballots for right-wing parties will be available to choose from.

The left, less fragmented

The polls remain stable and point to an absolute majority favorable to the PP and Vox. The left has tried to minimize the number of candidacies as much as possible, but, even so, the PSOE ballot will at least be joined, practically everywhere, by that of the Broad Front and also that of Podemos.

To the left of the party that presides over the Spanish government, the Broad Front, which brings together about fifteen parties under the leadership of Ada Colau, is running in 47 constituencies under its own brand, in the Valencian Country under the brand Compromís: Valencian Front, and in the Canary Islands as Unidad del Pueblo Canario. Podemos, which has distanced itself from the large grouping of parties, is running jointly with the Broad Front in the Canary Islands, the Valencian Country, and the Balearic Islands; with ERC in the four Catalan constituencies, and separately in 42 other constituencies. Beyond the major agreements, there is also the candidacy of EH Bildu in the Basque Country and Navarre, the Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG) in Galicia, and Forward Andalusia.

The right and the return of old acquaintances

With the polls in their favor, but with an absolute majority that has been narrowing as the days go by, the PP and Vox have been announcing their list leaders and the members of their candidacies against the clock. This Monday, in addition, they announced an agreement in the Senate in 23 provinces. The two right-wing parties are running separately for Congress in each and every one of the 52 constituencies. The only coalition in which one of these two parties participates is that of the PP in Navarre, where it is running with the Navarrese People's Union (UPN).

From the right, S'ha Acabat la Festa, led by MEP Alvise Pérez, will try to make a breakthrough with low expectations, having collected signatures over the last few days to run in 21 constituencies of the State. Next are the right-wing nationalist parties with more electoral track records, among which are the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV), which is running in the Basque Country and Navarre – in the latter case, with Geroa Bai –, and Junts. The last two right-wing formations with current or past institutional representation are Coalición Canaria and Democracia 21, which is running with Ciutadans, the orange party that collapsed electorally in 2023.

Outside of the formations with a clear ideological distinction, there is an old electoral acquaintance, the animalist party Pacma. Finally, we will also find pro-independence proposals such as Alhora, led by Jordi Graupera, with a message against the governability of the State; Escons en Blanc, the Workers' Front, the PCTE, and Falange.
