"Something very special" to celebrate Hannah Montana's 20th anniversary
Miley Cyrus talks about her plans to commemorate the character's birthday

Barcelona"I wanted to design something really special for the occasion because it was really the beginning of everything that's here now," an excited Miley Cyrus explained in an interview on SiriusXM's TikTok Radio. She's referring to the tribute she wants to pay to the character of Hannah Montana, who will turn 20 in March 2026. "Without Hannah, there really wouldn't be this... this version of me." The singer is in the middle of presenting her latest album, Something Beautiful (Columbia Records, 2025), and has been having a great time for years.
Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the series that gave her success and integrating this stage into her career is part of the process that Cyrus is going through: "I started as a character that I thought would be impossible to get rid of." She says that now she sees it with a sense of nostalgia, as something that is part of her childhood and that is important to celebrate. Hannah Montana was a trigger for an entire generation, that of Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo or Sabrina Carpenter, who confirmed the impact of the broadcast of the first episode: "I saw it and thought that I wanted to do that; sing, act and dance."
Cyrus took on the role at 13 years old and played it for four seasons, from 2006 to 2011. The comedy featured the participation of her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who played Robby Ray. Apart from the 98 episodes aired, the album was also released Hannah Montana (2006), several singles and a concert film was made: Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus in concert: the best of both worlds, released in 2008.
Cyrus's comments come just days after her induction into the Los Angeles Hall of Fame, which was announced in early July. The Nashville singer celebrated the news by recalling her arrival in the capital: "I was out walking at night with my dad when no one recognized him yet." This recognition, like the three Grammys in 2024, gives her the confidence to consider who she wants to be and do what she wants. Something Beautiful It's exactly that: a personal album that serves as care for the wounds of the past.
Although the celebration of Hannah Montana's 20th anniversary is promising, it is not the first time that the singer has done something special to commemorate this facet. In 2016, when the decade was completed, she published a long message on Instagram: "Although I feel very disconnected from who I was at that time, I will always be grateful for the opportunity I was given." And in 2021, on the occasion of her 15th anniversary, she wrote a letter to herself in which she stated that There isn't a day that goes by that I don't remember where I come from.
