The PP, Olympic champion of synchronized interview

The right-wing newspapers took advantage of their Sunday editions to interview different profiles from the PP, to see if they can finish shoring up the majority of 200 deputies they aspire to. Xavier García Albiol did a double act in La Razón and Abc, while Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo starred on the front page of El Mundo, the newspaper that fawns over her the most. A few days ago, these same papers were talking about the two souls of the PP, the moderate one and the hard one. It is clear which one is being brandished in the media and which one occupies the subjugated and cosmetic positions. Mind you, at least the Popular Party members had done their homework and read the talking points. Let's compare Albiol's headline (“It is in Sánchez's interest to inflate Vox to weaken the PP”) and Toledo's (“Sánchez wants division, for Vox to rise so that the PP loses”). Forget Laplace's game of seven differences.
The other slogan from Albiol, which he places in both newspapers, is “Welcome to those who come to contribute, closed door to those who create problems,” as he says, for example, in Abc, and with a similar formulation in the competition. It is the typical recipe, as easy as it is puerile: the immigrant comes here with the hope of improving their material conditions and a minimal fraction of those who do not succeed end up committing crimes. But it is poverty—and not skin color—that is the main shortcut to marginalization. Posed in the Albiol-esque way, it casts a shadow of suspicion over the immigrant for the simple fact of being one. You have to grab them by the lapels, examine them closely and say: “You, what? Are you coming here to take care of the elderly or to steal Rolexes?”. However, the left is incapable of weaving an alternative discourse, which, alongside the benefits (and their inevitability), recognizes the negative impacts of immigration without criminalizing it aprioristically as the parties most skewed towards the right and the far-right do.
