BarcelonaA magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck central northeastern Japan this Monday, prompting Japanese authorities to activate a tsunami alert, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The epicenter of the quake was located in the Pacific Ocean, at a depth of 10 kilometers, and according to some agencies, it even shook some buildings in Tokyo, hundreds of kilometers away.

The Meteorological Agency has warned of the possibility that this could trigger a tsunami of up to three meters in the prefectures of Iwate and Hokkaido.
