A Russian attack on Kyiv leaves at least 14 dead: "There may still be people under the rubble"

New Russian attacks in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, have left at least 14 dead and 27 injured, according to Ukrainian official emergency channels. The attacks were directed against warehouses located in a military use area and, according to the country's defense minister, Russia has caused damage to hubs logistics around the capital.

"There may still be people under the rubble," the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said on Telegram after emergency teams pulled two people from the remains of a destroyed warehouse near the center of Kyiv. Rescue operations are underway while the injured are also being treated, four of whom are in critical condition.

The attack began after midnight and the alerts lasted more than an hour in Kyiv, which has 3 million inhabitants, and where the military administration has reported that at least seven locations have been heavily bombed. The attacks have caused large fires in these warehouses and high columns of smoke.

Klitschko also reported a large fire on the outskirts of the city, and the discovery of the remains of an intercepted missile next to a residential building. Kyiv's military administration has assured that the attack has caused an ammonia leak, which emergency teams are working to control.

Russia has intensified attacks against the Ukrainian capital in recent weeks, with several bombings during the last month. In Russia, Ukraine attacked a logistics center of the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries, which adds to the more than a dozen facilities it has damaged recently.
