An Israeli army bulldozer is operating in the West Bank to eliminate the Palestinian presence in the illegally occupied area.

While the attention of citizens and the media is focused in the Gaza genocideIsrael continues to consolidate its occupation and plunder of the West Bank, a part of the Palestinian state that is smaller than the province of Barcelona and has a population of more than three million Palestinians, not counting the more than 700,000 Jewish settlers living there.

The latest report published by the United Nations once again highlights the dire situation in the West Bank. This news is not new, although Each report accentuates the drama more While the international community does nothing to denounce or stop it. It is a daily deterioration while preparations are made for mass deportation of the population when the opportunity arises, as in the Gaza Strip. The report states that in the first eight months of 2025, more than a thousand attacks by Israeli civilians (Jewish settlers) against Palestinians or their property in the West Bank have been recorded. And in the same period 11 Palestinians have been killed by settlers while trying to protect their homes or fields, and 696 were injured.

It's clear that these actions, which some unsuspecting person might consider spontaneous, are in fact planned by the settlers, and it's not very difficult to know where the next one will be. The settlers, the vast majority of whom are young, even minors, act in a coordinated manner to set fire to houses or cars, or to steal sheep or cut down trees like olive trees, among many other things, such as beating up Palestinians.

And what does the Israeli army do? Well, the soldiers often see what's happening and defend the aggressors. Legally, soldiers don't have the power to act against Israeli citizens like Jewish settlers. At most, they can call the police. Sometimes they do, but the police don't go or they arrive after the settlers have already left. Everything is well studied. In fact, many police officers are settlers themselves, colleagues of the young people who carry out these actions, friends of theirs, who never enforce the law against the settlers because they live in the same colonies. The aggressors carry out, on average, four attacks a day without having to answer to a justice system as sectarian or even more so than that of the soldiers or the police.

A significant characteristic is that most of the aggressors, but not all, are religious. The rabbinical schools that exist in the occupied territories are a whirlwind of totalitarian nationalist (Zionist) ideas, combined with religious ideas from the Bible and the Talmud. The settlers consider these ideas to be endorsed by God and above human laws.

This nationalist and religious ideology makes it impossible for the settlers to reach an understanding or agreement with anyone. It is an absolute fanaticism sustained by God. And since the Israelis are the ones with the power and the weapons, it's easy to foresee that this story won't end until there are Palestinians in sight.

Naturally, Benjamin Netanyahu's government is aware of it. The Israeli media reports some of the incidents, not all, but Israel lets them go while concentrating the weight of its military on the Gaza Strip. Gaza will likely be the first stage of the deportation of Palestinians, and the West Bank, the second.
