ERC launches a new image: leaving yellow behind and embracing orange
Republicans incorporate tile orange and sepia to revamp the party's graphic image

BarcelonaERC is abandoning the yellow it had previously used for its corporate image and replacing it with brick orange and sepia. This graphic renewal is part of the new political communication strategy that the current leadership has initiated since taking the reins of the party in December of last year. "These new times mean that ERC has to adapt to the new context, with a more accessible and understandable language, connecting with the issues that concern citizens," argued the secretary general of the Republicans, Elisenda Alamany, in statements to the media. Why have the Republicans abandoned yellow? "ERC is ERC again. It returns to that color when ERC wanted to demonstrate its own clear profile, which is what it needs at a time like the present," Alamany added.
Yellow has historically played a leading role in ERC's graphic image, whose orange-yellow color changed in recent years to a lemon-toned yellow, which was similar to the color that denounced political repression following the 1-O referendum. Now the Republicans have decided to abandon it because they believe the party must adapt to the new political era Catalonia is experiencing and have given prominence to an orange color similar to the one used by Ciutadans. "There is a new leadership that believes the entire graphic image should be adapted. Yellow is part of the flag and will continue to be," Alamany explained. The new leadership that took office in December of last year, led by Oriol Junqueras, decided to gradually renew the party's entire communication and graphic strategy to show that the party had entered a new era. On the eve of the Diada (National Day), the party presented its new image.
The goal is to leave behind the crisis the party has been through, not only due to internal disputes, but also as a result of a downward electoral cycle and the overly institutionalized communication that had accompanied it, according to the party. The changes are not only in the party's image, but the Republicans also want to innovate in the digital sphere, with a language that is more accessible and that speaks to people's daily lives. In recent months, for example, the party has published several videos with party leaders such as Oriol Junqueras counting from an elevator issues such as debt forgiveness for the regional liquidity fund (FLA). A strategy that also aims to combat the messages the far right spreads on social media, a field in which it feels particularly comfortable.
