The new restaurant in Vilanova i la Geltrú
In Vilanova i la Geltrú, Tabla 26 (c. Puigcerdà, 16) has just opened with a selection of dishes rooted in the local recipe book (trinchado de espigalls, sepia a la sucia) and also with other offerings (Formentera-style lobster) that have already become a reference in the city. Among the most interesting and highly recommended dishes are those cooked on the grill, including the turbot supreme with garlic and vegetable sauté, which goes well with the gelatinous fish. One of the starters worth highlighting is the bone marrow with steak tartare of veal, which is both delicious and visually appealing. And lovers of creative sandwiches, or sandwiches, will find one at Tabla 26 that stands out: it's filled with Iberian pork shoulder, with caramelized onions, kimchi, and Comté cheese.
They have a Catalan wine list, and in the kitchen is El Vendrell-born chef Adrià Álvarez, who champions an extensive menu (watch out for the popcorn with fried egg) and a €29 daily set menu. In the dining room, there are waiters with extensive experience in the restaurant business, who had worked in other restaurants in Vilanova i la Geltrú that no longer exist. The restaurant is very well located for public transport, both train and bus. And the street where it's located is one of the quietest in the city.
The best prawns in Palamós
If you are going to Palamós and are looking for a restaurant where you can taste the famous prawns, you will find many options, and a very good one is La Perla restaurant (c. del Vapor, 4)You'll find the chef duo Miquel and Estefanía, who have worked in prestigious restaurants around the world. Some even have Michelin stars, and after traveling the world, they've decided to return to El Born. In Palamós, facing the port, at the restaurant La Perla, they prepare dishes based on seafood with an exotic touch from the countries they've visited. However, the main focus is Palamós cuisine, with one star: the Palamós prawn. Miguel and Estefanía buy fresh prawns daily, and one of the dishes featuring them is rice casserole. Since we can't get enough of rice and prawns alone, we recommend that when you go to La Perla, you also try the breaded scorpionfish, which Estefanía cooks with a mixture of flours.
The Catalan wine fair in Vilanova i la Geltrú
From June 12th to 15th, on Vilanova i la Geltrú's Rambla Principal, you'll find wineries, dishes, and concerts to discover some of the best wines produced in our country. The Tiempo de Vino (Wine Time) celebrates its fourteenth edition with a lineup packed with tastings in iconic locations in the capital of Garraf (such as the Teatre Principal) and on boats. In fact, the boat tastings have become one of the main attractions, along with the strolls along the Rambla for food and drinks. As has become a tradition, the fair's poster was designed by a student from the city's art school, EMAID, and evokes open-air wine tastings. For more information and, above all, to find all the information on the guided tasting schedules, see the fair's website.
