Empordà musicians at a charity gala against Alzheimer's

VENUE: El Jardín Theatre in Figueres / DATE: January 10th at 8pm

Twenty-two musicians, singers, and composers from the Empordà region will take to the stage at the El Jardí theater for a benefit gala to raise funds for Alzheimer's research. The proceeds will go to the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, a pioneer in this field since its creation in 2008. Among the artists performing are Jordi Cristau, Joan Salas, Madame Mustash, Alverd Oliva & Judit Densalat, Ernest Prana, Toni Torrico, Naiara López, Tom Frauca, and Xavi. The Empordà singer-songwriter Laura Guerrero is the driving force behind this initiative.

Film club in Olot: 'Flowers for Antonio'

VENUE: Olot Cinemas / DATE: January 9th at 9:30 pm

Flowers for Antonio It's a documentary that explores the life and work of musician Antonio Flores through the eyes of his daughter, actress Alba Flores. Written and directed by Isaki Lacuesta and Elena Molina, the film is an emotional journey through memory and the present, using previously unseen materials: home videos, photos, recordings, archival footage, and his own music to understand the figure and importance of the son of Lola Flores and Antonio González, and brother of the famous singers.

VENUE: El Foment de Girona / DATE: January 13th at 6pm

He Farmers' Calendar It is the oldest Catalan-language publication still in circulation – 165 years old – and each year it includes current affairs topics. This year's theme is the forest then and now. Its editor, Joan Tomàs, will give a talk.

Concert series at the Ateneo, June 24th

VENUE: Ateneo 24 de Junio, Girona / DATE: From January 10th to February 28th

A new edition of Anticongelante, the concert series organized by the Ateneo 24 de Junio ​​in Girona, takes place on Saturdays in January and February at 8 pm for eight weeks. This edition features Ferran Orriols and the Barcelona-based blues band Sweet Marta & The Blue Shakers, fronted by a native of Salto. Other artists include Bécquer, Nerea Basart, Elle León Gallagher, Electro Ma Non Troppo, Borríssol, and Celobert. Tickets are pay-what-you-want.
