BarcelonaPolice are investigating the disappearance of a small gourmet from Picasso's Cubist period, Still life with guitar (1919), which was to be part of the exhibition at the Caja Granada Cultural Center Still life. In a statement, the Caja Granada Foundation explains that, as planned, the transporters delivered the works to them on the 3rd at ten in the morning. The van entered the facilities of the Caja Granada Cultural Center, the exhibitions manager greeted the employees of the transport company and instructed them on the steps to follow to deposit the pieces in the room. The works were moved from the van to the freight elevator (where they all fit in a single move) on floor -1, and then transferred to the first floor.

The delivery of the works took place in one area, and upon completion of the transfer from the freight elevator to the room, with all the pieces inside, the exhibitions manager, accompanied by employees of the transport company, inspected the delivered items. "As not all the packaging was numbered, it was not possible to carry out a thorough inspection without unpacking," the foundation explains. The various origins were then checked, which could be verified by the different types of packaging, and it was agreed to sign the consignment notes (pending unpacking on Monday the 6th to be able to check each piece accurately).

Once the operation was completed, the transport company employees left the Caja Granada Cultural Center at 11:30 a.m. On Monday, October 6th, starting at 8:30 a.m., the unpacking of all the pieces began, which had been "under video surveillance at all times" since Friday the 3rd. The recordings have confirmed that no incidents occurred at this same space over the weekend.

Once this task was completed, by the Caja Granada Fundació staff, they were distributed around the room and, mid-morning, with all the works unpacked, the curator of the exhibition and the person in charge of exhibitions of the entity detected the lack of Still life with guitarIn addition to reporting the disappearance, the foundation assures that it has made all its resources available to the investigation.
