Barcelona will debate future cultural policies at the Civic Agora forum.
The event will be held from September 26 to October 1 and will include more than a hundred activities.


BarcelonaCivic Agora, a new forum for debate and reflection on cultural policies within the framework of Mondiacult 2025, will be held from September 26 to October 1 and has scheduled around 100 activities with around 300 speakers. The event will bring together key international figures in the defense of cultural rights, such as UN Special Rapporteur Alexandra Xanthaki, who will open the event, and Patrice Meyer-Bisch, the driving force behind the Freiburg Declaration. Currently, there are around 800 registered participants out of a total of 1,000 places. Among the topics to be discussed are cultural rights, artificial intelligence, creativity, and linguistic diversity.
Jointly promoted by Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Generalitat (Catalan Government) and the Ministry of Culture, the Civic Agora will be held to coincide with Mondiacult, which will bring together 150 ministers of culture from around the world in the Catalan capital to set cultural policies for the coming years. The CCCB, the MACBA, the Pati Manning and the Institut d'Estudis Catalans are some of the spaces that will host the talks, which will be free access with prior registration.
Other participants in the Barcelona Civic Agora will be Justin O'Connor, professor at the University of South Australia and author ofCulture is not an industry; British scientist Daisy Fancourt, journalist and communicator Jorge Melguizo, singer Maria Arnal, and cultural activist Alison Tickell, among others.
