Kate Winslet says her "first intimate experiences" were with girls
The actress, who has just premiered the film 'Goodbye, June', explained it in a podcast.

During her appearances on various media outlets and podcasts, the actress and director is sharing reflections and personal experiences. In her recent appearance on the podcast Team DeakinsThe British actress explained that her first intimate experiences as a teenager were with girls, which allowed her to better understand her character in Heavenly creatures (1994), the film with which she made her cinematic debut. Directed by Peter Jackson, the film told the true story of Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker, two New Zealand teenagers with an obsessive and codependent relationship.
"I'm going to tell you something I haven't told you before. Some of my first intimate experiences as a teenager were with girls," Winslet explains in the podcast. "I kissed a few girls and a few boys, but I wasn't particularly evolved in either direction," she adds.
"At that stage of my life, I was certainly curious, and I think there was something about the really intense connection these two women [the protagonists of Heavenly creatures"That I understood deeply," the actress says. "I was immediately drawn into the vortex of the world they shared, which was obviously terribly damaging for both of them. They had a great deal of insecurities and vulnerabilities," she explains. In 1954, Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker murdered the latter's mother.

Anders is, in fact, the screenwriter of the film with which Winslet has made her directorial debut.
