The weather will worsen as the hours pass, especially in the south of the country. Showers and downpours will increase, with some local downpours not being ruled out. This situation will remain similar on Monday, when the bulk of the precipitation could affect the Valencian Community and be more intense and abundant. They will be very indirect effects of the ex-hurricane Gabrielle, which will reach the southwest of the peninsula already converted into a storm, and which will drive humid winds from the sea towards the ground in our Mediterranean area.

Meteocat has already issued a red notice Very heavy rain, with torrential downpours likely between this afternoon and early this morning. The maximum danger level will be 5 out of 6, meaning the probability will be very high.

Sunday: most unsafe time

The ex-hurricane Gabrielle It will impact, now in the form of an extratropical storm, southern Portugal and destabilize the weather in many areas of the Peninsula. In fact, downpours with strong winds could fall in the southwest of the peninsula. Everything will be far from our home, but between today and Monday, the counterclockwise direction of this storm will drive offshore winds inland, laden with humidity and instability, which will cause possible downpours in the Valencian Country, which we should monitor closely.

Thus, cloud cover will increase throughout today, and in some regions, the sky will even be quite heavy, especially in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and also in the far south. Scattered showers are expected in the regions of Tarragona and Castellón, as well as in parts of the Pre-Pyrenees and the southern face of the Pyrenees, especially the western one. This will be mild in the morning, but instability will become more pronounced in the afternoon.

Forecast map for Sunday afternoon.

During the second half of the day, the weather could become more complicated, especially in the West, the Pyrenees, and the southern regions, where some more intense showers could occur. The weather forecast indicates more activity in the Valencian Community, but heavy rain will also reach the Terres de l'Ebre region.

Meteocat has issued warnings for very heavy rain (40 mm in just under half an hour) and, locally, for heavy accumulations (may exceed 100 l/m2 Minimum temperatures have clearly risen due to the presence of cloud cover, making it less cold at night. In the city of Barcelona, they hovered around 20.5°C, and in Lleida they did not drop below 16°C. Maximum temperatures will be similar, with very mild temperatures in the middle of the day. Inland temperatures could reach 27°C (in Ponent) and in the Pyrenees they will range between 18°C and 20°C. On the coast, they will not exceed 25°C.

Monday: showers in the southern half early in the morning and downpours in the Valencian Community

The week will start with more stable weather in Catalonia, especially in the center and north, where there will be more sunny spells and almost no precipitation. Furthermore, temperatures will drop everywhere, and the atmosphere will be cooler again. However, a few last showers could fall in the south (Terres de l'Ebre) until the early hours of the day. Also keep an eye on the Valencian Community, where the arrival of a humid wind will bring significant rainfall, with rainfall figures that could occasionally exceed 150 l/m² in Valencia.
