BarcelonaWe've just finished a weekend marked by abundant cloud cover, but beyond a few local showers, there hasn't been any significant rainfall anywhere. This situation will be practically identical today, with the added factor of more suspended dust brought by a pocket of cold air settling between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. This same pocket will bring more showers or light rain as the days go by, with a possible more widespread rain event expected between Thursday and Friday. Therefore, the first week of March, and the first week of the meteorological season, is shaping up to be considerably more eventful than the previous one.

Forecast map for this Monday morning.

Monday: Time doesn't cleanse

The week begins fairly calmly, but with increasing cloud cover. Low clouds and fog will dominate in some coastal and pre-coastal areas during the morning, as well as in inland plains and valleys, while sunshine will still prevail in many regions. However, as the day progresses, high and mid-level clouds will move in from south to north, creating a heavier cloud cover. In fact, this cloud cover will begin to bring some precipitation to southern Catalonia and the Valencian Community. This rain will be accompanied by mud due to the arrival of more suspended dust. Temperatures will remain stable, although they will rise slightly in the west and north of the country, especially in the Pyrenees, which will be the sunniest area.

Tuesday: first showers

Cloud cover will increase on the second day of the week, resulting in significantly overcast skies and precipitation across much of the country. The heaviest rainfall will be in both the eastern and southern parts of the country, particularly in Valencia, where heavy downpours are possible. Temperatures will remain relatively stable, the snow level will hover around 1,800 meters, and dust will be present in the air.

Busier weather expected from midweek onwards

The weather over the next few days will be influenced by a pocket of cold air settling between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. This will initially bring a significant influx of suspended African dust, resulting in rain that will be quite muddy. Following the showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, we could see more widespread rain between Thursday and Friday, with snow only in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. Temperatures will remain relatively unchanged, ranging from cool to mild.
