BarcelonaThe changeable weather has continued in recent hours. Yesterday, however, the afternoon showers became more localized and concentrated in mountainous areas. Meanwhile, the Valencian Community has been experiencing rainfall since yesterday due to the passage of a small cut-off low, and locally heavy rain will continue until this morning between Alicante, southern Valencia, and the Pitiusas Islands. For example, rainfall has already exceeded 60 or 70 liters per square meter in parts of the Alicante and Plana Baixa regions, and in some very localized areas, rainfall has surpassed 130 liters per square meter in some municipalities of the Marina Alta, the area most affected by a storm that will begin to subside today. Catalonia remains unaffected by this situation, and in the coming days, calmer weather will prevail everywhere, with generally sunny skies and virtually no showers anywhere. This period of calm will last until Friday, with milder temperatures expected at midday. The maps indicate that in the late hours of Friday and especially towards Saturday, a new change in the weather will arrive, with rain, snow clearly descending from lower elevations, and a more wintry atmosphere once again.

Wednesday: calm with some nuances

It has been raining in many parts of the Valencian Community since yesterday, especially between the Valencia and Alicante regions, as well as in the Pitiusas Islands. This situation will continue into Wednesday morning, and locally there may be more heavy rain and thunderstorms, so Aemet (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency) has some yellow alerts in place for this area. The situation will improve significantly throughout the day, although some weaker, localized showers may remain.

In Catalonia and the rest of the country, the situation will be much calmer. However, the passage of a front through the Pyrenees will cause some minor, temporary changes. Bands of high and mid-level clouds will cross the area, occasionally leaving the sky partly or mostly cloudy, but without major consequences. Only some light precipitation is expected in the afternoon on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees, as well as some afternoon showers in the eastern part of the mountain range and in nearby northeastern areas, such as Collsacabra. This will be minimal, with the snow level around 1,800 meters. There will also be some localized afternoon showers in inland Mallorca.

In addition, there will be morning fog or low clouds, both in inland plains and valleys, as well as in some coastal areas. All of this will be accompanied by moderate cold in the early morning and higher maximum temperatures. Milder conditions at midday, with many temperatures between 15°C and 20°C.

Weather change this weekend

Thursday and Friday will be very calm again, with more sun than clouds and no precipitation overall. Temperatures will rise a little more, especially on Friday, with mild and very pleasant midday weather. However, late Friday and especially Saturday will bring a significant change in the weather. The passage of a front and a pocket of cold air will bring a period of rain to various locations and snowfall in the Pyrenees, with the snow level potentially dropping below 1,000 meters. The weather will be markedly colder and more wintry, but from Sunday onwards the situation should improve again, although with northerly winds. The situation is still somewhat uncertain and will need to be clarified as it develops.
