BarcelonaA minor has died and two more have been critically injured after drowning at Arrabassada beach in Tarragona, according to Civil Protection. The minors were between twelve and thirteen years old and have been transferred to Joan XXIII Hospital.

Emergency services received a call around half past three in the afternoon stating that a group of teenagers was having difficulty getting out of the water. Three were able to get out on their own, but the other three had to be rescued and attended to. At the time of the events, there was a yellow flag on the beach, which was later replaced by a red one. According to what ACN has learned, the group of children were not bathing exactly on the beach, but were in a rocky area between it and Miracle beach. It seems that at this point they were out of the coverage and sight of the lifeguards.

The Emergency Medical System (SEM) has activated 6 ambulances and 1 medicalized helicopter to provide health assistance. The Firefighters, the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Red Cross, and Maritime Rescue have also acted in the area.
